SFMU or Tune the OBDI or get a FAST?

well i have a few options here im trying to work thru

first off, my goals are to make a 600rwhp streetable car (15-20 psi of boost intercooled and sprayed)

I will have an A1000 pump, currently have 36# injectors which im going to change for 50#ers.. and have a vortech FMU which i would change for the SFMU if i go that route

so i could get the 50#s, get an AFPR and tune the OBDI

i could keep the 36#ers, or get 50s or another set of injectors to use with the SFMU

or i could get the 50s and see if i can hurt the bank and buy a FAST

now i know everyones gonna jump on the FAST idea .. i know its the way to go .. but lets try to keep things under budget and see if we can make it work with less money

I would recommend doing 72/hr injectors and the www.acceleronics.com impedance box. This is what I did and can easily handle my 608rwhp. This setup also allow easy tuning with the OBD1 or OBDII PCM. Further, it idles good, mileage is pretty decent 14-15mpg street and 18 mpg freeway, and no worries that the FMU failed and boom.

What I know is that you will not be able to get it to 600rwhp with 50#/hr injectors unless you use the FMU or SFMU. Then also I heard that the FMU and SFMU is hard to tune with since the fuel pressure increase may not be completely linear and also you have an extra component to break then boom. You can't really tune with the SFMU, at least not fine tuning to get to 12.5 A/F at the 600rwhp level, it won't make since to do it this way. The SFMU may get you from A/F of say 14 to something really rich like 11. Then you wouldn't be able to tune it to get to 12.5

Since you are going to buy new injectors might as well do it right and better in the beginning so you don't have to do it again until you are shooting for over 800rwhp.

I don't know much about the FAST. But if you have the money and someone knowledgeable on the FAST with a lot of time then that is better to go. The good thing about tuning with the stock PCM is it is already very driveable and you just have to tune for WOT and do a little for driveablility.

good luck
