Talking some rambling if you're bored..

I haven't posted much about the car in a long time, mainly because it's been torn down over the winter, and finally put back together in late May. Craig (GTP) had my heads for 3+ months..
Anyway, we got the car back together in time for the Hot Rod Power Tour, it was a success.. The car made the trip without so much as a hiccup.. In fact we went the 3,000 miles and it never used a drop of oil, antifreeze, ATF, or 90wt.. It's tight

I swapped to the LTCC (LT1 Coil Conversion) and that seemed to hep my ignition problems that plagued me last year.. Although, I have replaced two optisparks this year.. The first one was replaced because of a random misfire that turned out to be one of the screws that holds the rotor in place had backed out.. The second optispark was replaced after it basically exploded..

Right now the tranny is out and I'm sending the converter back to Precision Industried to get tightened up... It was way too loose....Well, last weekend we went up to Hattiesburg, MS to Hub City Dragway for some test and tune. I was on my Drag Radials so I launched very easily because I didn't know what would happen (read: scared).. I got a 1.70 60' time, and ran the 1/8th in 6.35 @ 117 mph.. Somewhere right around the 1/8th mark I hit the shift light in third gear This thing should run up to 155 mph before I hit the shift light, so the converter must be slipping horribly.. Anyway, I coast to a 10.20 @ 116mph..

I thought I could get a 9 second pass on Drag Radials so I lined up again and launched a little bit harder to the tune of a 1.60 60'.. I shifted cleaner on the 1-2 (I short shifted on the first pass) and somewhere near the top of second gear the car totally quit pulling and started popping.. Turns out it was my second "exploded" opti.. so I coasted to a 6.25 @ 111 1/8th time and a 10.40 @ 107 1/4 mile time...

I've got pictures of the car over the last few months on the website if you have nothing better to do..

www.turbocharged.net/twinturbo

I'm just hoping the converter gets back from Precision next week so I can get back to the track.. The car has been running super strong and I just need a couple "clean" passes to see what it's really made of..

Happy Hotrodding

Simply AMAZING! Thats just, wow! Very impressive! That 1.60 short time, was that a dead hook? How hard did you launch? Any bit of wheelspin? Those huge radials look GREAT! If only I needed that much tire! Almost 9s on a radial is just impressive. Wonder what it would do with a full blown slick?

Hey Kyle, I meant to email you and apologize for being a d!ck @ Arlington on the Power Tour.. I'm normally not like that, I was just extremely exhausted from driving for 6 hours in a downpour on drag radials.. I was baked.

As far as your question goes, I left very lightly, maybe at 2500 rpm.. It hooked, buy that's not saying much.. I need to see if it will hook at a 5000 rpm t-brake launch..

9's on radials as soon as my converter comes back.. (hopefully )

Congrats on all the progress you're making. I spent a couple hours looking at your site... seems like you've done a lot since i've seen it last.

Have you weighed the car yet? just wondering if you got it down to 3300 like you wanted.

How's that brake setup working out for you? I remember a while back you had the stock MC, proportioning valve for the rear and LL for the front. Looks like you took the prop. valve out (IIRC you had it adjusted all the way out anyways). Just wondering if you are happy with the way it is setup now with the strange MC, and if you would have done anything diff.

Sounds like it's very close. I'm very curious as to how the converter works out, as I am having similar converter issues. I never even bothered to try the first one at the track, it was so loose.

About 6 hours worth of machine work and welding. It would be cheaper to buy an intake with the hole already.

I don't know what the car weighs.. I'm getting the cage certified later this month, I'll weigh the car then..

Brandy, if this optispark takes a crap I'm definitely going to take a different route.. Either a conventional distributor or a cam sync - edist setup of some sort..

When the car wouldn't run last week and I didn't know if it was hurt, I was already planning the 91.5mm/Little M combo..
