T6 turbos....

Does anybody run one of these? Is it even possible to get one of these to fit in the engine bay with keeping the power steering? Naturally both of these questions are directed to a 4th gen f-body and I don't want to have to do any major surgery to the car. Also, how difficult would it be to change from a t6 flange to a t4 flange?

TIA
Bobby

T6 flange turbo will fit on a LT1 and keep all the factory accesories, but your gonna need the right kit. I don't know if the company I'm talking about is a vendor so I won't say the name. If you want the name just e-mail me. T6 is for some serious power, be sure your ready to back it up with all the other stuff that is needed. If not, just go with a T4 flanged turbo and you will still make plenty of power even on a mild kit.

I really don't think you can fit a T6 in there without major surgery. The guys who are running a T6 usually get rid of any or all of: A/C, upper radiator support (stand up radiator), PS, antilock, battery, etc. . .

What are your goals? A T4 can take you all the way to 1250 hp. The T6's are good for 1500+.

You most certainly can fit a T6 into a LT1 engine bay and keep all your accessories, but I would never say it was easy. It just requires you purchase the right kit (or parts to do a kit). Your definitely going to have to move some things around, but it does not have to be a hack job like most people will try to tell you. Ask me how I know it will work

I definitely agree that a T4 will meet most people needs and usually exceed them by a good amount ! I think anything over 650 ish on the street is gonna be hard to handle for most people.

I'm going to go ahead and call BS on that without some pic's or something. I built my own T76 T4 kit and, even still, it was tough to keep all the accessories.

Of course you would call BS..... That does not surprise me. Last time I checked this was a info gathering site, not a someone knows it all and steals the guys thread. Just try to keep this on track to help this guy. I don't think it's about what you or me have or have not done, its simply just giving him info which I was more than glad to do in a PM since the vendor is not a sponsor. So, there will be no anything posted from me showing something that does not support the vendor index.

Thanks, not lets tune back into the thread.....

Last time I checked, it's not against the rules for members to post pic's of their cars.

I believe you are talking about Joel's kit... I'd like to see pics too. I am not a fan of running pipes under the motor mounts (it tight there and a bastard to get in). If it is possible to do (should be able to), I would hate to install the kit becauses its gonna be tight as $hit. It can be done though with Joel's kit... stock fans and radiator may need o be tweaked though.

I don't mind removing the radiator support but I don't want to lose power steering. I was planning on moving the battery to the back of the car anyways and I have a 9" so there is no ABS.

I know a T4 can make more than enough power for me but a T6 turbo can be found very cheap in comparison to the T4. I was looking at getting an S400. Is this a bad idea? I have heard lots of people run these with great success.

Here's what a T6 looks like in a 4th gen engine bay. Looks like he got rid of the A/C, ABS, cut up the frame, and installed a tubular k-member.

His kit looks a little scary... I already have an aftermarket k-member so that is a plus.

I don't know how the guy is able to get traction like he said he was able to?!?! T88 sbc getting traction in first gear? Doesn't make sense to me, especially on a drag radial.

What do you think about the S400 turbos?

Not sure about the S400, but the S-series of turbos from forcedinductions.com have some very nice features.

Your thinking backwards here. Decide what your goals are, and then pick the correct size turbo. The if its too expensive, try ndfind a used one. Dont pick the S400 cuz its cheap.

What engine combo you gonna run?

I have some LE heads right now with a solid roller NA setup. I would like to change pistons, crank, and cam shaft to make to current motor a little more turbo friendly. I already have forged rods so I am good to go there.

I understand you shouldn't pick a turbo based only on its price but money is a object. The cheapest I have found a used T76, or close to it, is quite a bit more than the S400. I have no problem spending more money getting pieces that will work but if the S400 will work, then I don't see a need in spending more money on the T4 turbo.

The S400 is essential a turbo that diesel's use, and can be used with any car. It is a 74mm turbo with a large turbine side (1.32 A/r), very similar to a GT42 turbo. Not sure if you can get different turbine housings for the S400 turbo like you can with a GT42. We still dont know about the cubic inch of your motor and what hp or track goals you have. I think S400's around $600 right? Its a nice cheap turbo, but its heavy as hell, large in outside dimensions and probably will be a bit laggy depending on your combo.
