Took my TC78/5.3 to the track, 9.43 at 145
I don't post over here a whole lot anymore(still read tho), but thought some of you might be interested in this. I sold my old firebird awhile ago(had an real quick kit on it) and now I've got a 1st gen rx7 with a junkyard 5.3 and a home built kit. Here's a copy/paste from tech...
Drove my rx7 to the track it's a junkyard 5.3 with just over 100,000 miles on it, gt2-3 cam, good springs/pushrods, ls9 gaskets and head studs. I'm running 13.5lbs in 1st and 2nd and 14.5lbs in 3rd(peaks a lb when I shift to 3rd gear, not sure why) on a TC78. I'm running a th400 with a ptc 3200 stall(too tight) and a 3.55 gear with a hoosier QTP.
I wasn't expecting a lot, just leaving on the footbrake not the transbrake, and haven't turned the boost up yet. I just wanted to see what the car would do on some easy passes. I had the fuel cell full of E85(27 gallon fuel cell) which should have put me right around 2600lbs.
Next time out I'll be up on 18-20lbs with more aggressive timing, fuel cell not full, and leaving on the transbrake to see what it will do. I went 144.7mph last year on only 11lbs at the same weight with my old coan nitrous converter, I think the new converter is hurting my mph with the 1300 to 1500rpm drops on the shift so might send it back to be loosened up.
Here is how the pass looked, will have a video up as soon as my buddy can get it to me.
1.40 60ft
6.05 1/8th
115.8 mph
9.43 1/4
145.1 mph

Still need to get the car to the chassis guy to set the 4 link, get an alignment, etc. Should leave a lot harder after that, plus will be leaving on the transbrake and will have another 120rwhp.

No, hehehe.. THat at least would've been fun (tho cramped). I daily drove it to work through the summer of 2008 in Houston, Texas and she(the turbo z28) performed great. When not battling the non-turbo related issues I've had lately, it's a very dependable and fun car. I'm just going through the periodic 'bad luck' period I seem to suffer thru every 3 years.
