what do you think about afr 190cc lt4 heads
Im looking into buy some 190cc's afr heads to put on my 383 lt1 that im building for a procharger. I know nothing about the back ground on these heads. Do they have bad reviews, weak spots, cooling issues or anything? And also What kind of power can be made with some porting on these? Thanks for your input.

This is what Lloyd said about them. This was posted in the for sale thread.
It looks like it was a set of older AFR 190's and we reused the existing 2.02/1.60 valves in the heads and ported them for the LT4 race gasket (GM 12367777).
It will be a real good turbo head with the big cross section at the pushrod pinch.
As far as springs, I "believe" we used a set of K Motion K-800's with 155 seat and 400 open (good to .620 lift).

My experience...
I run AFR 190 LT1 heads (54cc chamber) w/ ATI D1 procharger 383ci. Also, LT1 all forged assembly (JE -28cc pistons) 9.5:1 static CR. I have had very good success w/ Felpro 1074 head gaskets ~ 14psi boost. I run an LT1 intake manifold manifold w/ large Spearco IC. The springs are a 1.46 dia double w/ damper, but, I think the 1.55 dia would be better. I also run an AFR rev kit which I really like.
Cooling? I have moved to an Evans waterless poly_glycol cooling media w/ be-cool rad moved forward, & no thermostat (due to external vac pump mod). Car runs very cold in summer. Much better than the stock water-glycol cooling set-up.
