This is what I want, how do I get there?

I want to make 550ish at the wheels on a 355 with ~15 lbs of boost. Motor will be a 355 with 9:1 compressions(should it be higher?). 224/236 cam with my LE1 heads. I want low end and dont really plan to rev it much past 6200 rpm. I cant decide if I want to the a P1SC or a turbo setup. Will either one get me there? If i want a turbo would a t-76 be to big to give me low end, where would the boost come in. How does a supercharger act on the low end? Car is mostly a cruiser/weekend drive with a trip to the track every 6-8 months.

You will want to get the D-1sc, instead of the P1sc to give you a much better chance of meeting your horsepower & boost goals. You should be able to do it with the D-1sc. As long as the motor is all forged...

The compression being at 9.0:1 should be fine. If its not together yet, you may even want to go a bit lower so you can really crank up the boost.

Also, make sure that your tune is good. Good luck!

The cheapest way to get there is to contact "realquick" on here and have him build your hot side parts, buy a MP T70 with a .68a/r, at 10-12 psi you should hit your goals and once you get bored with that its pretty easy to jump up to the T76 and shoot for 750-800 and once you get bored with that bolt on the S400 with a .96 or 1.10 housing and hit 1000+.

Im in the same boat, my hp goals are 550-650 and I reasearch what option would be better for me SC or Turbo and I decided the turbo would cost less and give me the room to grow.

If I go turbo I will be building my hotside parts. So I think I can do the turbo cheaper. I just need to decide if I want to do all the custom work or just bolt something on.

Custom work FTW! In the end its a great feeling of accomplishment. I cant wait to get started actually fabbing mine. Im hoping this sunday to start.

If you can fab it will def be cheaper to go with a turbo. If you want to bolt something together I still think itll be cheaper with Jon doing the hotside and you fabing the rest. you may be able to find a used SC kit for about the same price but for bran new there isnt a chance.

A t76 should EASILY get you there. Times in my sig on 11.5lbs, T76, and stock heads/cam

Thanks for the shoutout Troy!

jchevy - Justin is right. If you go with a T76 with the motor you described... you could probably hit 550rwhp @ 8-10psi. Alot will depend on the kit, but full boost on a T76 should be ~ 3500rpm. This is always deceiving though... because full boost rpm will be different given which gear you are in and what load is on the car.

If you want to make a kit, I can offer some good advice. Feel free to email me with questions: jon@lt1boost.net

If you wanre interested in something cheap, I have a cast manifold kit on my webpage at the bottom that comes with a JGS40mm wastegate for a cheap price. Its a kit I made a year ago, so the welds arent super pretty, but it will make good power.

How would a T-67 work, I just heard from a friend and may be able to get an intercooler, wastegate, bov, and ball bearing watercooled turbo for a good deal. Opinions, the price is right

The T67 will be done at 600rwhp. You would be pushing that turbo to get 600rwhp though... probably 15psi.

BTW, the cast kit I showed will take a standard Precision/turbonetics/innovative T60 thru T76 with vband for 3" DP.

Make sure the turbo isnt an ebay special. Did your friend say which brand turbo it is?

Its a garret turbo. So I would be pushing it to get 15 psi out of it?
The t-67 will spool quickly thought right? So i will have lots of low end? I'd Trade a top end HP for low end TQ

As far as you kits go i would love to buy one that would let me keep my A/C but Ive noticed that you are way backed up right now. And I cant wait

Here are the specs on the turbo.

Its practically new.

Garret 67 mm (makes it a t-67?), water cooled, with .96 a/r

come with a 50mm bov, and 44mm waste gate.

Intercooler is 24 x 12 x 3

After some more research is that a/r to high to make low end boost?

That A/r is fine for your cubes. What size flange is on the turbine (for the DP)?

yeah im looking for the same hp range, 550-650, also with the ability to step higher if needed...(or wanted)...I will be buying Jon's cast kit and either throwing a turbonetics t76, or a master power turbo, depending how much is left after the motor build

DP is setup for a T60-T76. If you want a Master Power T70, the DP will need to be change a little ($$). You wont regret going with a turbonetics T76.
