As for me...
  • Cut trap door and install Aeromotive 340lph fuel pump.
  • Remove log manifold hotside and install new tubular hotside w/downpipe exit on passenger side.
  • Remove TC76 Turbonetics turbo and install PT76GTS turbo.
  • Get some nicks and chips in the paint fixed.

How about you guys?
Dave

Sounds good. What are you doing for injectors, ignition and tuning?

Injectors... Semens 72# peak and hold (running now)
Ignition... MSD_6a, MSD variable timing control unit, MSD 8202 coil, MSD wires, Zex plugs,

And (not popular with the members) Opti by All Ignition.com HiPerf unit. I also modified the check valve on the opti vent since the stock does not cut it.

Tune... By me. LT1_edit version 2.2. Been using for 10 years now on OBD2 PCM. I'm getting good @ it. Yes, I tried mail order (pcmfor less), did not work. A big mistake by me.

Also... Motown single plane, custom TB mount and duct (you may like it), Crank diven vac pump (really seals the cylinder rings). Moved BeCool Rad forward and run 7psi poly_Glycol media (great for FI apps). I re-engineered my bypass valves to work for my combination.

And more. A rolling experiment. I'm thinking that the 5.4:1 step_up ratio will help alot.

I have a photobucket acct. Look up my handle for pics... mzgp5x.

Put all the pieces together and hope it does stuff.

It'll do 'stuff' one way or another. Put it together right and it'll do better stuff than if you put it together wrong.

This is why I could never sell my car to a 'civilian'(ie: someone that doesn't know HiPerformance LT1).
  • Rear end: Ford 8.8 centersection, GM 10 bolts legs, different lugs than the front
  • Front end: LS1 spindles, rotors, pads, calipers
  • SPEC stage 4 clutch
  • SPEC billet steel flywheel
  • TFS heads, gasket plugs
  • 1.6 Ultra promag 7/16 rockers
  • LTCC LS1 Coil Near plug ignition
  • OBDI PCM
  • Turbo exhaust
  • Reduced diameter harmonic Balancer
  • Relocated O2 sensors
I just imagine the unknowledgeable new owner going to Autozone and just thinking they could order stock replacment parts for the above and the frustration they would suffer.

The snows are starting here so I doubt I'll be able to make too much headway on mine till next years Spring.

Normally, it would give me time to send the new hotside to the coaters but I want to install it in the car first to make sure nothing interferes. Jon mocked up everything on his mule motor and cross member but you never know how everything will fit on YOUR car till you put it on.

Reminds me of the last time I had an oil change done on my car that I didn't do myself.

Them: "Sir, your air filter is pretty dirty, we recommend letting us change it for you today."

Me: "Really? Bring it here and let me have a look."

30 min later "We can't find your air filter."

The manager wasn't too happy when I confronted him about that one.

Anybody making any progress? I ordered new fans and a shroud as well as a new AC condenser today. Also refabed most of my intake pipes to tuck up closer to the engine.

Re: What will you be doing to your FI Camaro over the winter?

Not having a garage and us getting our first bits of snows, I'm afraid my progress will be slow for the time being. I want to test fit my new hotside in case I have to make any alterations before I send the piping to the coaters.

I've had a Walbro 255lph pump for about 2 years, never installed it. But now I see the Aeromotive 340lph, I'm going to buy that.

I was able to do a little more tuning on my SD 2 bar tune. The car really likes the tune and in this cool air, she's running fantastic.

That's pretty funny, Chris!

One day, I drove around back of a dealership looking for the parts department, and about half of the mechanics heard the car and piled out of the shop to look at it. They were real car guys in the best sense of the meaning - at least two of them got on their backs and shimmied under there to look at all the stuff I did underneath while asking me questions. Pretty unusual for a dealership .

My car needs the whole intake redone and also the discharge piping. I don't have an intercooler, but rely on the methanol injection, which seems to do the job. I need to get some tubing and fab it all up, and when I'm done with that, I might need to rethink my exhaust. Even though it will do a John Force burnout from a 65 mph roll, I still think I'm leaving a lot of power on the table. Not sure how much, if anything, I'll get done this winter though since I hate the cold. Maybe gather the parts and buy a tig welder.

You could always install an electric cutout about 6 inches after the exhaust housing and not worry about it.
