1/4mile question

Re: 1/4mile question
It will depend on which rear axle ratio you have. If you have the 2.73 rear axle (base ratio), its not going to be as fast as if you have the 3.23 "performance rear axle" ratio. You can tell by looking at the build code tag in the glove box - 2.73 is "GU2"; 3.23 is "GU5"

Re: 1/4mile question
Personally, based on the road tests I have from when these cars were new, they were not 13-second cars when stock. With a really good driver, and a really sticky set of tires, and a good launch, you might get into the 13's, but I never saw it happen. The magazines were getting mid 14's to low 14's. That's what I'd expect a stocker to run. With the CAI and catback, 14.0

Re: 1/4mile question
A friend of mine went 13.95 @100 with an automatic, 2.73 geared, 1996 trans am. Cold weather. It had a K&N cold air and welded in flowmaster muffler. Funny thing is, it was nearly impossible to do a good burnout because of the gearing. It barely made it to 3rd gear in the 1/4. The 1-2 shift looked to he at the damn 1/8th mile.
In hot weather, stock, it ran 14.4 @97-98mph.
