1994 Coolant leak in an UNUSUAL spot, Please help!

Hi Guys,
I own a 1994 Camaro Z-28 all original.
I have a coolant leak coming from a compartment/vent underneath my glove compartment, inside the car.
I noticed that it doesn't leak when cool but when it heats up, it begins to drip.
My whole passenger floor was covered in antifreeze when I noticed this.
My question is, there seems to be a heating and air vent cover under the passenger dash, it drips right under there.
The bolts are in a very rough place, what do you guys think it is?
Are there hoses running under there, I'm a little thrown off by this.
My coolant was low last week and I think I over filled the overflow, can this be part of the problem, if so, where would the fluid be coming from, and why is it dripping inside the car, under the glove compartment?
Any help would be much appreciated,
Thanks!
J

Your heater core is leaking. Not good, and not easy to change.

Shoot,
is that pretty expensive?
Whats your best guess of a ball park figure is on that?
Is that the only spot for the heater core as well?
Thanks for your answer and help,
I really appreciate it.

The dealer part number for the heater core is 52468039 and the dealer price is $234.85. That info is off the AllData site. It's for a 97 but I don't think the 94 heater core is any different. For labor they show 2.5 hours at their 'standard' rate. Around here that's about $70.00 per hour. That probably doesn't include flushing and refilling the system.

Thanks alot, I really appreciate the info!
Can it also be possible that this leak can be caused by overfilling the overflow in anyway?
I did overfill it last week because the light was on and it would not go off..
The light did not shut off until I checked the radiator itself.
I noticed the radiator was halfway filled so I filled the radiator with coolant as well.
I'm just curious is overfilling and overflow can cause any type of leak as well.
But I guess it would be a little to coincidental to be it the same location as the heater core?
Thanks again for your help!

Thanks for the info.!
Its weird because its bone dry under the hood.
Is the heater core located inside the car under the passenger dash?
I checked all of the hoses and could not find 1 drop of coolant under the car and under the hood. Its just dripping inside.
Sorry for all the newby questions, as you can see, I'm not a mechanic
by any means, again, I really appreciate the info. and your time!

The heater core is inside the car under the dash. There are two hoses that connect to it through the firewall. They are a PITA to get to. Get a Haynes manual and get a general idea of what you're looking at. Do it yourself though, repair shops will rip you off. You can find a replacement at Autozone for around $50.

If you wanted to, you could remove the hoses at the firewall and join them together to bypass the heater core and keep it from leaking until you get it fixed.

Search in the General Tech forum. There have been posts of how to replace the heater core. It's not as bad as people will lead you to believe. Just a little tight.

It is absolutely, 100%, a heater core problem. I would recommend you enlist the help of a mechanically inclined friend and just change the thing out. It is not very difficult.

Also, make sure you bleed the air out of your coolant system when you add water/antifreeze. Air in the coolant lines of an LT1 will cause it to start overheating.

Definitely do it yourself. Its not nearly as hard as people make it out to be.
