1995 Z28 convertible ac help
I have a 95 Z28 convertible and i am having some issues with my ac,, lets start first with telling you that the ac was never that great to begin with scince i bought the car on 2000 , but then the ac compressor bearings bit the dust so it was my excuse to final fix it so i went ahead and changed out the compressor and accumulator dryer receiver and expansion valve and all orings assoiated . no problem. i pulled a vacume for about an hr still good no leaks, so i went ahead and put my oil and r134a in and all is good the comperssor kicked on and the suction line was getting cold , but here is what gets me , still i have SH*T ac in the cab it blows 55 degree air at its best mostly its about 65 unless i turn the fan to low ,, i have a therocouple right in the vent, i checked my lowside pressure it was about 40 psi and it was about 75 degrees ambeint temp out side ,, what am i doing wronge? sitting in traffice today i was sweating with the ac full blast this cant be right.. oh yea i put 2 cans of 18oz r134a in the system from a dead start,, is that enough juice?

My wifes volvo I have to have about 45-50 PSI on the low side to keep compressor running properly. When hers gets low then the damn compressor cycles on and off so the car gets warm. I would run the ac on a warm day with your gauge hooked up to both the high and low side and see if the compressor turns off after shortly running which is most likely why it isn't gettign cool in car. Maybe their is an issue on the High side of the system and that is why the AC isn't getting cold. I would guess it does need more than 2 of the small cans for a complete refill, I would imagine a service manual should give you the total capacity of the system so you can find out for sure. Good luck.
