1998 z28 camaro 5.7L LS1 v8 issues
I bought the car at a police auction, its driving me crazy, its been parked for 3 years, it has 110,000 miles on the body, new engine and tranny. It has a salvage title, but I want to keep it, I dont want to part out. The problem is DMV will not issue another set of temporary tags, But EGR does not activate when taken to inspection, another major problem is the SECURITY light is on most of the time, and the car will either shut down or not start, If you are in the DC.MD.VA area would you be kind to ring into this or if you know what steps I should follow, In all serious thought I want to delete the factory alarm system ant-theft computer so I wont have these issues anymore, eventually It will be my track only car anyway. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You're security light is most likely your ignition cyclinder. The wires usually break on them. I just changed mine out a month or so ago and it was not that hard. You just have to be careful with the airbag so it doesn't go off in your face. You could also try cleaning the contacts on the key and the contacts inside the cylinder with some electrical cleaner.
