2001 SS - SLP Question
I'm thinking of purchasing a particular 2001 SS Conv. and I have a question about the SLP labels (or lack thereof). By all visual indications it is a true SS, and the Service Parts Identification label on the inside of the driver door has WU8 and Y2Y listed, but there is no SLP options label on either door and also no label anywhere in the engine compartment (that I can see). Is this strange to anyone else or is this no big deal? Also, would I be able to contact SLP with the VIN to get this info? Also, about 1/3 of the RPO label on the inner door looks like it was torn off, but I can still read the WU8 and Y2Y options. Any info/opinions would be greatly appreciated...

That would definitely explain it if thats the case. Looking at the rear spoiler, it defintely has an SLP part number on it, but maybe the GM factory just used their parts?? Thanks...

Re: 2001 SS - SLP Question
From Camarosource.ca:
In 1996 and 1997, the SS's were completely finished by SLP under contract from GM. Starting in 1998 this was no longer what happened.
In 1998, the SS order code changed to WU8, an "in house" option. In 1996-1997, Z28s were built at Ste. Therese and converted to SS by SLP Engineering. Beginning in 1998, SS's were built at Ste. Therese and shipped to SLP in nearby LaSalle with a temporary hood. SLP added the new hood, spoiler and any SLP exclusive content. SS included a 320-hp LSI, composite hood with air induction, P275/40ZR17 tires, 17x9" specific wheels, 3" stainless exhaust tip, special suspension, and SS trim.
