Question 2nd Gen Convertible

Hi all, I'm trying to track down info on 2nd generation Camaro convertibles. I know that chevy never made any but I could've sworn that I saw a picture of one. Do you guys know of anyone that did conversions for the 2nd gen? I did a search but I only found stuff on 3rd gen conversions. Thanks in advance.

Re: 2nd Gen Convertible

I have seen pictures of conversions, I don't know the name of the companies that did the conversions though. From what I have read about the 2nd gen vert, GM did make one prototype, but the GM prototype was a 2 seat car, and the Corvette team threw a fit, and got the car scrapped. The Corvette was to be the only 2 seat, drop top, sporty car in the Chevrolet lineup.

Yes they made about 500 of them back in 1979 and 1980. They were done in Port Sanilac, Michigan at a company called Coach Engineering. I have some pics of some. I also have a 1980 that I will be converting into a convertible. feel free to email me at kcstamand1@hotmail.com. I also live in Michigan. The car I am using I purchased up north of you in Howard City.
