4.10 gears??
I was wondering if my 95 z28 will be able to handle 4.10 gears. Its pretty stock as of right now. It just has flows, cold air intake, a new stronger clutch, and it will have a larger throttle body. Its in no way my daily driver so I won't be putting daily stress on the rear end. I'm just starting to modify my Z due to now having a daily driver so any thoughts and suggestions are helpful. Thanks alot

Re: 4.10 gears??
4.10's really wake up the M6 cars. With a basically stock engine, you won't have issues with hitting redline in 4th gear through the traps at the track. 4.10's are probably a bit weaker than a numerically lower gear, so its always an issue with the fragile 7.5" 10-bolt. Just stay away from super sticky tires on a sticky track, and 5,000rpm clutch dumps and you should be fine.
You might want to spend the "larger throttle body" money on something else, because you really aren't going to see any gains from it until you start making some serious breathing changes to the engine.

Re: 4.10 gears??
thanks for the help. I very much doubt I'll ever be bring in my Z to the track so I shouldn't have too much of a problem with the stickyness. Now I already have the throttle body. What suggestions could you give me to get started. Nothing to big just yet so no supercharger or nos. Any pointers are appriciated. This is prety much just my only toy left so I'm ready to start workin on it. I have a couple thousand to start with. Thanks

Re: 4.10 gears??
I have a 95 Z M6 with a Lt4 big cam, long tube headers, slp loudmouth 2 w/4.10 gearing, and a cold air kit. It runs very well. With 4.10 gears my car runs about 2500 rpm's at 55 mph in 5th gear, and 2000 rpm's in 6th I still get good mileage. Like you, my car isn't a daily driver. However, it's fun to drive with the above mentioned add on's. I plan to get a tune done this spring to wake it up more. These things are a good starting point. Have fun.
