I have been a collector for many years and have never seen or heard of anything like this, bought the car for parts. To my knowledge gm never made a third gen ss, I have had a hard time stripping this one due to the fact that I may have something. If anyone knows anything about this car please fill me in. Myself being somewhat knowledgeable with f-bodies this has left me baffled, the badges appear to be factory but the vin says it is a sports coupe. see the pics in the link

That is a huge mix of mismatched parts. Nothing special at all.

 

Looks like a POS so go ahead and put it out of its misery. One less screwed up 3rd Gen on the road. My opinion.

 

looks like a glue on cowl, ta wheels...some type of decals..i dont know how much you could get for that..looks pretty beat even for parts

 

Having owned 3 third gens heres what i see...

..riveted cowl on an RS hood
..aftermarket steering wheel
..wrong shifter, maybe firebird, pretty sure pontiac anyway
..seats with the covers changed
..RS tail lights
..could be a TA wing??
..definetly TA wheels
..cant see the side ground effects, but the front one is 91-92 style
..badges look like they may have come from Monte Carlo of same time period??

End conclusion, NOTHING special here, except the ET Streets inside the car .
The SS wasnt back until 96. Part that bad boy out.

 

I sure hope you did not pay any extra for the "SS"...

No those arent Monte SS, letters. I am pretty sure those are prob custom made.

 

No third gen. SS's. IROC's were top of the line, starting in 85.

 

Yeh, that thing is a piece.

thanks for the replies guys, youre right it is a piece and i noticed all the mismatched parts also, i didnt realize the ss emblems until after i had purchased it for 200$, know i didnt go wrong there. just wanted some input before she gets stripped and sent to the crusher, thanks. didnt think it was real but one of the emblems almost had me fooled, maybe there was a company in the late 80's that sold these emblems, who knows.
