92 Camaro RS Speedometer

92 Camaro RS Speedometer
The speedometer in my 92 Camaro RS Stopped working on me. I noticed that the odometer isn't working either. Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be? I am kind of hoping its something I could fix on my own. Its a V6 Manual 25th anniversary. I read up on it a little and it sounds like it might be my sensor but I don't know for sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: 92 Camaro RS Speedometer
not sure on the odometer but i had the same problem with the speedo
it was the speed sensor or something (can't quite recall)
it basically had the gears spin on it and it wouldn't keep the gears on the shaft it was supposed to be on
so i would drive and suddenly i'd be going 10mph (realistically like 40-60 or something)
needless to say, i fixed it really quick
i think you should check that but, if both aren't working, i would suspect something else (something that links both of them together)

Re: 92 Camaro RS Speedometer
If your speed sensor was not working your service engine soon light would come on after a few minutes of driving with the RPM above, say, 2000. You would need to hook a scan tool to the computer and check for MPH in the data while the wheels are spinning. If you get a good MPH reading then chances are it's the speedo mechanism or an electrical open or short in the wiring.

I noticed my service engine soon light has been coming on like that lately. It stays on all the time after a few min of driving. Where could I take it to get tested at?
Thanks for the help!
