95 Z28 cooling fan problems?
hi i bought a 95 z28 and the fans dont turn on. i found a switch under the radio which only turns one of the fans on. i used a piece of wire to ground pins 5 and 6 on the DLC and only one fan comes on which is the one that is connected to the aftermarket switch mentioned above. does this mean only one of my fans is working? theres another aftermarket switch in the car i thought would turn on the second fan but it doesnt do anything when i turn it on. i checked all relays and they work, i replaced the cooling fan fuse becuz it was blown. Also my A/C doesnt blow cold, i think its because of the fans or might be low on refrigerant. My temp gauge goes high when stopped or in heavy traffic but i read this is normal, the temp does go down when on the freeway. Also my heater doesnt blow hot air only warm air which i think is heat from the engine, im thinking heater core is out. any suggestions?

Let's handle one problem at a time. Since someone has cobbled up the fans with the manual switch, you have to figure out why they did it, and how they did it. With the fans wired per the factory, a good coolant temp sensor in the water pump housing, good fuses (and fusible link), good relays, and the correct PCM on/off temp programming, the system should work correctly. With all that, and a healthy cooling system, it is not normal for the temperature to go much above the midpoint of the gauge in heavy traffic.
Here's the wiring diagram for the fans (use the "late production" / 3 relay version) from Shoebox. Start tracing the system, looking for missing wires, broken wires, burnt fuses, etc.

As far as the heater, the core plugs up easily, particularly after 16 years. Best thing to do is try flushing the core with a garden hose, working from the hoses, disconnected at the water pump.
When working on the cooling system, DO NOT GET COOLANT on the Optispark distributor.
