95 z28 overheating again.
I know I've posted about this several times and I apologize, so here we go. I have a 95 z28 and the damn thing keeps overheating. Everything that's been replaced: both cooling fans, radiators been flushed, 3 all new fan relays, new waterpump, both temp sensors, new Rad cap have been replaced. I pulled the temp sensor on the front of the engine and both fans kicked on at high speed. It overheats at idle I would appreciate any advice. The A/c has no freon, I think I read somewhere shobox that the fans wouldn't come on without freon in the system? Someone correct me if I'm wrong thanks.

What I said was the fans won't come on with the a/c, if the a/c is not charged and compressor operation is inhibited by lack of pressure. This does not affect fan operation otherwise.
OP, give more details on "overheating".

Re: 95 z28 overheating again.
It'll just overheat at idle like stop lights or just sitting around. Both of the fans came on after I pulled the front Temp sensor. It gets up to the 260 line on the gage. Would a fan switch and 160* theremostat help?

Re: 95 z28 overheating again.
That would be putting a band-aid on a screwed up system. Might fix it, might not. Fix the system.
There has to be a reason the fans are not operating when they are programmed to come on. Use a scanner to determine the coolant temp the PCM is indicating from the sensor in the water pump. Could be a wiring problem.

Re: 95 z28 overheating again.
If your fans end up working correctly......Check for headgaskets leaking, hook up a coolant system pressure tester and see what happens, check for coolant getting into cylinders. Thats what i did to mine when it was overheating after checking out everything else. Headgaskets ended up being bad..they were leaking, car would hit 260 and puke out coolant from overflow bottle.
