'98 Z28, Salvage title, How much would you pay?
Hey guys
I have seen an ad for a '98 Camaro Z28 with roughly 140K miles on it, new tires, new tint, everything newly flushed. But has a salvaged title. Car looks in great shape other than the salvage title. It's listed for 5,500. You think that's reasonable?

Something to keep in mind when buying a car with a salvaged title is that if it is wrecked and totaled again, most insurance companies will not pay full book value in a settlement. This can really hurt a buyer if they still have a loan against the car and owe more than 80% of the book value at the time the vehicle was totaled.

No. $5500 is fair for a 98 Z with 140k and a clean title. I wouldn't pay more than half that for a salvage, and even then it would depend on why it was totaled. If it was in a flood, I wouldn't pay more than $100.

Agree 100%. The salvage title cuts the value of the car at least in 1/2.

Last month I bought a very clean '97 Z28 with 88K miles and a clean title for $5K so $5500 for one with 140K and a salvage title is way too much. If it runs and drives good offer him $3K. Good luck....
