Air pump fuse keeps blowing...

Ok, so i figured out my SES light is on because of the air pump fuse blowing. I changed it, started and it was fine for five minutes. Then it blew, the light came on along with the fans. I know there has been others with this problem. The Air pump is bad am i right? It keeps blowing the fuse when it tries to cycle on? If so where can i get a new pump? Any help would be appreciated.

It might be full of water.. its not necessarily bad though.. When i pulled mine out.. it was full.. pull it out and leave it out.. you won't miss it.. but leave the relay in...

Probably rusted up.

You can simply replace the fuse, then pull the harness connector off the pump = no code/SES.

Ok, so i can one of two things... Pull it out but leave the relay in, or leave it in, replace the fuse again, and unplug the relay?

Yep pretty much.. leave it in pull the plug or remove it and leave the relay in.. either will work..

The was a recall on several years of 4th gens because of this issue. Not sure the exact fix because I never took mine in (no air pumps ) but since it is emissions related you should be able to contact the dealer and ask them if your car has had (if it needs it) the recall.

Recall was only for 95 and newer. Did not cover 94's.

I had the same problem. All you need to do is diconnect the electrical plug going into the air pump. Problem solved. Of course the pump wont work, but it's not really needed anyway. You can see the pump from the drivers side. Just reach down and un-clip the connector.

Ahh... didn't know that. I could have sworn I kept getting in lots of three (one for the 94, the 95, and then the 96?) recall notices for this I must have been confused or better read it closer... evidently for something else on the 94 I got about 15 or so of these recall notices but it appears as though they have finally given up because I haven't gotten any in about a year. LOL!

Thanks for keeping me honest, Fred!

Then the wiring or the relay, between the fuse and the air pump connector is shorted.

This is correct. I looked it up a while back, and it doesn't apply to 94's
