Buying a 1985 Tran Am...is it a WS6?

Hi guys, I'm picking up a 1985 Trans Am next week, and I'm wondering how the heck I can tell if it's a WS6 or not. It's not a blatant thing like my 99. I don't have the VIN, and last time I looked at it I forgot to check the door jamb for RPO codes. The car has 15 inch stock wheels, a low rise spoiler (it's definitely not a GTA) an LG4 and 5-speed, and it has a "performance suspension" badge on the dash. Now, from what I can gather, that performance suspension badge doesn't mean it's a WS6, and I've kind of picked up that WS6s came with 16" wheels in 85. Can someone clarify this for me please?

From what I've heard, the "performance suspension" badge could go on any car that had an upgraded suspension over the base car. Also, I'm pretty sure that if it were a WS6 model, it would have the 16" rims. That is not saying though that it used to have those wheels and somebody swapped them. The only way of really knowing would be to find the RPO code.

It's a 1 owner car, the wheels haven't been swapped. I'm pretty sure it's not a WS6, but no biggie. I'm stealing it from the guy :-P

I would also check out www.thirdgen.org there is lots of good third-gen info on there.

Oh, I know. I was a member at thirdgen.org back when the place had a lounge! (1999?) Thanks though!
