Buying A Z28

Hey guys, i'm brand new to this forum, one of my friends that works with me who's 17 just got a 95 camaro Z28 LT1 automatic. It sounds awesome and is pretty fast i'd assume also.
I've been saving for a few months and plan to buy a z28 this year, i'm looking at a 1998 Camaro Z28 LS1 that's automatic, black, and has 59K miles on craigslist. THe owner has it posted as 10,000 dollars, do you guys think this is a good price?

I know i can get camaro's for cheaper but they have around 100K on them, if i do get a used camaro with some miles, what should i be looking to replace? what's worn out ? What's a good place to look for a 1998+z28? A fair price on them?
Any help is appreciated and i hope to have a camaro soon! thanks!

where are you located at?
Check kbb.com for used values, and go accordingly.

i would offer the guy 8500, if he takes it, great, otherwise, keep looking. Also check the classifieds on here, you might find a nicer car for cheaper in your area

i'm located in Winder, GA, close to Athens, GA which is close to Atlanta, Georgia, most everyone knows atlanta haha, and i'll check for the kbb adn here also, so you'd say about 9thousand for a 98 z28 with 60K miles on it is fair?

kelly blue book says 6 thousand, although i'm sure i'll never find one in good condition for 6 thousand, i'm limiting myself to 10Grand for the car, and want it to be black..i just wish i could make payments on it.

10k is a little high for a '98.

Agree on price, area variations that affect price, and checking the classifieds on the boards. Ebay too. Some localized spots have much higher prices than you can find on the boards and ebay.

Some incredible deals to be had on Ebay. Some guy just posted a bank repo w/100k & a couple of dents that went for < $4k. I thought about buying a Navy Blue 6 speed 2000 SS w/80k out of Cali this weekend, but the reality of no more parking spaces stopped me. It went for $8.2k.

I've noticed a lot of low price LS1s in Florida always popping up if you don't mind taking a drive. And with cold weather coming on, it's going to get better for buyers.

well i always loved camaro's and V-8's, my town is mostly about sport compacts though, everyone wants me to get a srt-4 or a rsx type-s, and the guys talking smack to me now are a 350Z, cobaltss/sc, both stock, but they're faster than my car, but if i get a 98 Z28 i'm sure i'll take them, even if it is automatic? right?

you will beat any stock car besides s/c mustang cobras, corvettes, exotics and other f-bodies. if i were you i would get a 6 speed, its a lot stronger, funner to drive, and you will get better fuel economy.

yea i was thinking about that, i learned to drive stick on a WRX STI though and my brother said a 6 speed in a V-8 will throw you around, also he said a 6 speed camaro would have more problems, i'm guessing just because it has more miles? a stripped clutch or whatever? and plus i bet they'd be more expensive.
He also talked to me about getting a LS1 to LS6 kit which i'm not sure if i want to do but i know it's on summit. it will be a while before i get my camaro but i'm still looking into what to put on it

I'm not worried about it. I'm just telling you to turn it off. It makes your posts difficult to read.

you will beat a stock 350z and cobalt, cobalt will be easier but you will walk both, even if u get a automatic. id say 9,000 for a ls1 with that low miles is a decent deal and go for it
