A/C Help...

Some help if you will...my car is a 94 Z..LT1 with an auto..lots of miles, 160K. It has a new A/C compr. and evap. stock blower motor and condensor. The freon is perfectly topped off and both fans are working, compr is cycling fine, condensor has no cracks or slices/holes. This damn thing wont blow cold. Idling in the heat it gets to around 85 degrees out of the vent. Moving it gets to around 60 degrees..any help? most well working a/c systems will get the temp around 40degrees out of the vent..thanks in advance.

Do you have pressure reading for us? High side and low side with the compressor running.

Temp control **** might not be moving the mixing door to full cold, which will mix heater core air into the mix. Quick check for this would to be pinching the heater core hose off to cut the flow then trying the AC again, see if it gets colder.

It sure sounds like air is not blowing thru the evaporator. Is the larger line from the evaporator cold? If it is, then it's almost got to be air is not blowing thru the evap. Or the evaporator is freezing solid, but you would get cold air for at least a few minutes until that happened. It would also restrict the amount of air blowing out of the vents.

a friend at a local shop seems to think it might be the OEM oriface tube along with the pressures being slightly off. Tonight, on a mid 70s night, the coldest the air would get is 49-50 degrees. Ive had numerous cars that would dip into the high to mid 30s. The large line (low side) seemed to be not cold enough..however we gave it some RPM and the line started to get cold quickly.

Sounds like there may be a clog somewhere holding up the freon and oil...since you said the heater core is gone.

someone else said that and recommended me getting a new condensor under the suspicion that the previous owner had used Freon oil/leak fix which can cause many problems later on. Like i said before the car has a new A/C compressor and Evap along with a recharge..both fans are coming on and the car is not running hot. Compressor seems to be cycling at the appropriate times, nothing blocking the condensor...there really arent that many things left the check. lol..thanks for the help
