Camaro 97 SS No Start No Click No Crank

Hi,

I know this issue has been probably discussed many times but unfortunately I am still stuck in diagnosis.

The battery is fully charged no issue with that.
head lights are bright and dashboard lights come on upon turning the key on so I guess no battery wiring problem.
Security signal comes on then off and it doesn't blink so I guess it is not a security problem
check engine signal comes on so I guess the ECM is getting electricity and no issue with it
all fuses and relays are checked and no issue.
I tried my second brand new key and still it didn't start so no issue with the key security.

upon turning the switch to start position I hear nothing, no click, no crank and of course no start and the inside light get little bit dimmed upon starting.

the car was ok last week and I had No similar issue at all. The problem occurred once in the morning and I kept trying and trying till it started. Then same day occurred again but this time I couldn't manage to start it at all.

I am left to think it is the starter.

What do you think ? beside is there anything else I can do ?

Thanks

From what you describe I’d check the starter next.

Re: Camaro 97 SS No Start No Click No Crank

it was the starter. I purchased one non OEM from Ebay and it fixed the problem however, just after few days it started to act up in a different way.

Now I can hear the starter solenoid clicking but no crank and If I keep trying it will eventually starts. I guess it is a very bad quality Starter that I got.

I couldn't find the original AC Delco Starter any where and most of these on Ebay are rebuild I guess.

If you know any other heavy duty starter brand that will fit exactly as OEM please suggest me one.

You can get new ACDelco starters at Rock Auto and Summit Racing.
