Camaro questions

Is the GM additive the same as any other additive? And if there is a squeaking sound when driving at like under 15 miles an hour that has a squeaking rotating sound would it be my bearings? I dunno really how else to decribe it other than is squeaks with the rotation of the wheels. It gets lounder at one point then quiets down then gets louder again with the rotation of the wheels at a low speed. If I go fast than 20 is disappear I assume from the rotation being to fast. Let me know if you have any idea what I am talking about. It's an A4 95 z28 and the sound is coming from the front driver side.

Re: Camaro questions

What additive are you referring to? I was thinking limited slip additive until you said the noise was coming from the front. (no, not all LSAs are the same. Get the GM stuff). If it was due to LSA, the noise would go away when you went straight.

Re: Camaro questions

sorry to different things. The additive is for the rear end and the sounds is a whole other problem.

Re: Camaro questions

Same problem I'm having. Almost sounds like perpetual creaking of old wood, coming from what seems to be the drivers side front wheel-area.

I have NO idea what it is

Re: Camaro questions

The squeak could very well be a front wheel bearing failing? I already had one replaced on my '02. Unfortunately, they're darn expensive (~$200 CDN ) because they're a sealed unit, containing both the bearing and a speed sensor for the ABS. BUT, they're easier to change than a normal front bearing, because the hub is held on with 4 bolts, that's it!!

As far as the limited slip additive, like Shoebox said, get the GM stuff (they designed it for their own diffs).

Re: Camaro questions

I have a new rear and initially put the GM LSD additive in it. It was nice and quiet with minimal noise. But recently I had to drain it to fix a leaky diff cover. Because I was cheap and in a hurry I bought some crap from Auto Zone for $4. BAD MISTAKE! The rear makes all sorts of noises.

Can't wait till I have time to chance it to the good stuff.
