Can running your car hard every once and a while actually help the engine out?

Can running your car hard every once and a while actually help the engine out?
Well i have a 98 Firebird with the 3.8 V6 in it and i rarely ever run my car hard so today i was just messing around leaving class and i fishtailed it and did a burnout up the whole street with it in 1st the whole time. Now this was one nice burnout for a 3.8 too, i was surprised, i left smoke all the way up the street. Now before i did this my car had been acting sluggish and everything for the past couple months, but afterwards it was much more responsive and felt like it did when i first bought it.
Now my question is can running your car hard every once in a while actually help it out? It sure does feel like that with mine now. Ive heard somewhere that running the car hard every once and a while can remove deposits or something from inside the engine and evrything and help it out. Is this true at all?

Cars enjoy going at higher speeds, its less stress on the engine. City driving is the absolute worst for a car, stop and go hurts, driving on the highway is great for it. Taking it up to higher RPMs is good from time to time to get it all moving how its supposed to, remove carbon build up and what not.

My car gets angry at me when I "baby" it.........it likes being pushed, and so I drive it hard all the time.
Go figure, but the 2 times that my check engine light has come on (same code, "catalyst system inefficient") has been when I've been driving slow and "proper". It's never come on while I've been driving the car hard. Although, I do see the "low trac" light quite a lot?

I think you need to re-look at driving the **** out of your car. It's true that cars like higher speeds, for the benefits listed above. Doing fish tails and lightin them up everytime you get, especially in reverse is going to damage your drive line. Your rear end/ tranny. is not by any means, bullet proof. Although, it is your car, so have fun!

I don't drive "the **** out off my car" every chance I get. I only squealed the tires while backing up to scare the **** out of people, and tonight was the first time I have EVER fishtailed ANY car. I don't even know if what I did would be considered a fishtail.

i've heard it removes the deposits, like carbon
just dont go wrecking your car, seen it happen too many times
