my car is stuck in 3rd gear, its stuck in there pretty good, i can probably yank it out, but i dont feel like breaking anything, any ideas to how i can get it out , my car is stuck on the otherside of my neighborhood , ..any ideas?

and my synchro questions...
today my 4th gear started grinding so im guessing that the synchro is out??
and then it got stuck in 3rd gear so im guessing that is also out?
should i just get all the synchros changed at once or just those 2?
how much should parts alone cost me?
labor? max and min?
should i change the clutch too?
if i do change the synchros, are there any other things thati shoul ddo when i have the tranny dropped?

were u beating on ur car when this happened? Mine did that when the clutch went out. got stuck in 2nd and would not come out.....Started grinding 1st gear too when the stock clutch went. New clutch...Feels like a new tranny!

Dont go thinking bout syrncos just yet! Check to see if u have a broken clutch disk first...these trannys r pretty tough, check out the clutch first.

FYI,I picked up a SLP clutch setup new on ebay for 350 shipped!..disk,PP, and throwout bearing

 

nah i wasnt beating on my car when it happened, but i just got a cutout installed, so i probably have been riding it kind of rought lately, ... how much did the clutch instlal run u? thanks for the hlep bro

 

i got mine done for like 150$ cause my dad knows the mechanic who did it...ur looking 200-300$?? im really not sure, depends on shop who does it.

Slp clutch setup is good for mild bolt on cars.

 

well i just called alamo performance down here in TX, and they said something is probably broken and it will cost around $2k to drop the tranny etc.wtf

 

Go get second opinion somewhere else...worse comes to worse drop tranny and check that CLUTCH! IF not good luck finding a new tranny at junkyard?

 

ya, lethal performance said they'll drop the trans for $50, ... but then they'd take the hwole thing apart and give me an estimate, and if i didnt like the estimate, they'd give it back to me in pieces , is it hard to drop the trans at ur house? is hard to check to see if the clutch is bad?

 

I don't think dropping the tranny is that hard but, I've never put one back in.

 

well it ended up being..the 3rd and 4th gear synchros had melted together, , i got the whole trans rebuilt and thought it would probably be a good time to put in a new clutch too, problem solved $1200 later, haaaaaaa
