Is this car worth it?

95 Z28 convertible A4 w/114k and SS hood. It has a salvage title from 1998 but not sure what for.

Overall in good shape with the usual interior wear. Top appears to be in good shape.

Looks like I can get it for around 2k, it would be a summer time beater car for the wife.

That thing doesnt look in half bad shape. Even it the motor doesnt run 2000 for the rolling chassis would be fine too. If it runs all the better. I would say definitely.

I would never buy a flooded car especially if it was saltwater.

Looks like that passenger air bag was triggered/replaced?

I just bought a 93 Z28 today for $1800 that runs fine, needs a little tranny mount work and and some touch up paint, looks great though. 160,000 miles.

Depending on the severity of the previous damage, it wouldn't be a bad car for 2K. It looks like the interior is beat up pretty good though, not sure what else is wrong with it. It would probably be worth investigating a little more though.

For 2k if it runs and will run even for a few months it'd be worth it in my own opinion. My car has been in a previous wreck and has 112k on it. Still runs good.

Re: Is this car worth it?

I wouldn't buy that for my wife... if she wants a summertime 'vert I'd look at BMW 318's or something similar.

I'd never put her in a vehicle that might literally quite in the middle of the highway.

I wouldn't mess with it at all personally. Too much trouble potential..

If I looked at it that way, she'd ride a bike! Her current playtoy is a 74 COrvette and I'm getting tired of fixing it. Already got a Volvo, don't need another yuppie car.

Any car, even a new one can leave you stranded at any time.

I saw that too. I've replaced a dash destroyed by an airbag once, I guess I can do it agian

Appears it was a theft recovery car. It wasn't striped. It was salvaged because it was recovered after the policy had been paid off so the car was auctioned off. Same thing happened to my neighbor last year. He ended up buying his car back from the insurance company after they found it.

Re: Is this car worth it?

My uncle now owns a theft recovery vehicle. He couldn't be happier! He's the second owner since the theft and the car was put back to "original" before he bought it.

Re: Is this car worth it?

Get the car inspected by a professional and go from there.

Salvage titles come from all sorts of things as mentioned already, some for the pickiest of things while others don't do the term "salvage" justice at all.
