coolant temp
my temperature is still rising on my guage. i want to replace the coolant temp sensor. I am getting the coolant light and i am wondering if that could be my problem, one of the wires. At advanced auto i am confused on which one to get as there is two any help would be appreciated.

Re: coolant temp
It is not clear, but if you are getting a low coolant light, it has nothing to do with the two previously mentioned sensors. The low coolant sensor is on the radiator and commonly goes bad. Or maybe you just have low coolant.

Re: coolant temp
i am sorry i did not make it clear enough. i am getting a low coolant light. i am also still geetting to the very hot range on my guage which is why i believe its not my gauge thats reading wrong but rather the sensor on the waterpump that is allowing it to get that high?

Re: coolant temp
update on this problem i replaced both sensors and now the car is running a lot cooler now and the fans actually kick on as soon as i start the car. i believe the problem is fixed but only time will tell.

Re: coolant temp
Heat position will not activate the fans. AC or defrost function will. Fans running at startup is usually due to a trouble code. Most common cause is a blown fuse for the AIR pump. But there are other codes that turn on the fans.

Re: coolant temp
ok so now my temperature is slowly but surely rose to about the last white hash mark on the temp gauge. is there anything else i can do to combat this? i guess i could turn on the a/c but i would rather not have the a/c running constantly.

Re: coolant temp
well i did what u said and put the a/c relay back in and the fans stopped turning on at startup and im back to square one. the problem is back with the fans not coming on.. i replaced all the sensors and properly bled air out via shoebox guide.
