Creaking in rear

Hey guys,

I recently noticed there was a creaking in the rear (dunno how long its been goin on, because you can only hear it when the window is down on the drivers side, and its been a bit cold around here). It only occurs between 10 and 35mph, the faster you go the faster the creaks are. I can tap the gas and hear it real well, if i apply the brake a bit, like slowing down gradually, i can still hear it, but if i hit the brake a bit hard, it goes away. Any ideas what the problem is?

Thanks,
Scott

First on my list would be a bad belt in a tire. Rotate the tires and see if it moves.

Before you go to all the trouble of switching the tires, try just pushing the rear end down with your body weight. If it creaks, go no further, grease the sway bar bushings under the axle. If not, the tires are next.

Also grease the lower control arm/panhard rod bushings. Mine are squeaking like crazy right now. If these parts are stock on your car, you'll have to take one bolt out at a time and swing the arm down to get to the bushings. Aftermarket arms have zerk fittings, you can just use a grease gun with them.
