This problem has becoming more and more of a pain in the @$$, and with inspection coming up soon, I dont want to fail for something stupid like this, not to mention I need to estimate my speed at all times when its dark.

SO heres the deal: The lights on the dash and the radio dont work, like if you turn the dimmer wheel all the way down. Culprit: dimmer fuse. I have replaced it numerous times only for it to blow again, and it is now to the point where it blows immediately. I dont know what is on the same circuit or what, but I am guessing it is something like a bad ground?? (but I am not sure where this would ground anyways, the ones under the hood look fine) I really suck with electrical stuff, so any input is greatly appreciated.

There's a list in the Owner's Manual showing what's on each fuse. If you don't have a manual, Shoebox has a link to online copies on his website.

 

The dash lights are fairly reliable, I would pull the radio and remove the connectors from the back and try the fuse again. At least this would isolate between the dash and radio.

 

I installed an MP3 player that used the aux feature of the head unit (the head unit was from a gm truck or something). I grounded that to the bracket that the front of the console bolts to, below the radio area. Would this affect it?

 

It could if the grounds are not the same. Why not remove it for awhile and see what happens.
