Unhappy dashboard crack

The wide, flat, horizontal, plastic panel above my dashboard is cracked. I have no idea why, noticed it last night. Only thing I can think of is that it cracked from the heat. Has anyone else had this problem and needed to replace it before?

Am looking for where to buy (the name of this piece would be helpful) and if anyone has had any experience replacing. Seems like quite a job, especially since I will be messing around behind the passenger side airbag.

My car is a '95 BTW. 93-96 interior should be the same.

Re: dashboard crack

yes exactly. That is called the dash pad?

I assume to get it off I have to remove the a-pillar covers but I am not really sure.

Re: dashboard crack

Mine just cracked the other day, I'm not happy about this.
It's about $100 bucks I think. It's part #10267171 (dash panel) 93-96, double check by calling Dal or Jason on the wholesale dealer page at shbox.com.

Re: dashboard crack

its lists at $169 from a dealer but you can get for $96 from gm parts direct. I'm going to check the junkyard too.

Has anyone changed this before? Do you have to actually take the front of the dash apart, or can you get at it from the top by removing the A-pillar covers? I'm guessing there are plastic clips holding it on, but I really have no idea.

It would be great if you can change it without removing the dash.

Re: dashboard crack

All you have to do is remobe the a pillars and the gently pull it up, it's held in place with several spots of super strength industrial Binford 2100 velcro.
