Did the window motor thermal bypass...OMG do they work better.
#77
I did the thermal bypass mod a few years ago. The mod worked great for several days and then one day the window motor started smoking and heated up. Thermal protection is there for a reason, if you are willing to take the risk of an electrical fire and save a few bucks, not a bad modification.

Well I did the mod, but cannot for the life of me get the damn brushes to stay in while putting the end cap back on, any tips?
edit: got it all back together and it doesnt work If I try and manually turn the gear on the motor, it will not turn at all. Anyone got any suggestions? I redid it twice now, same result.

I can speak from experience here - I did the relay mod on my last car '96 and on my current 2000 when I bought it in '07. The mod woke up both of the tired, struggling motors. They still work great today almost three years later - and I didn't have to worry about bypassing anything. Just my 2 cents.
