Disable automatic headlights (Resistor)

No splicing needed, either. Just unplug the sensor and short the plug with a paper clip (trim to fit) and tape it up. Simple. No kidding, that was the first mod i did to my Camaro. 2nd day i owned it. That was almost two years ago.

You can pop the top of the dash open pretty easily. Just carefully pry up on it around the vent where the sensor is, and it will open up. It's sort of fragile, so take your time and don't force anything.

Resistors? splicings? I used a paper clip bent into a U shape. 2 yrs and no problems.
I don't know why but the auto-light sensor just bothered me. I like having the option to kill my lights at night so i don't blind neighbors when my headlights shine into their windows. I also enjoy driving around at night in total darkness sometimes, aka "stealth" driving.

I have a diagram of the wiring behind the IP and it doesn't look like the ambient light sensor can be unplugged? Looks like it is connected directly to the wiring harness that goes to the DRL module. The diagram is from AllData.

Sorry for digging up an old thread.
If the car was from the US in 1995 did it have an ambient light sensor or a DRL module? Or was this only the 97 and up cars? I require DRL's to pass my Canadian safety inspection and the car is from the US.

Heh, I just did this a few days ago, I used a paper clip. And the first time I turned the ignition on, the 1 and 4 preset buttons on my radio went out. I tapped the top of my dash, and the vent position **** lights came on (had been inop for years) but then ALL the preset button lights on my radio went out, lol.
I know theres no direct relation to the two circuits, but it sure pissed me off, lol.
