I went to auto zone to buy a trouble code reader For my 1995 z28 And they didnt have one so they gave me this metal key looking thing to jump some terminals where the scan tool would hook up. Does this Work???

Nope, the key will not work. The '95 is the oddball with an OBDII style connector and OBDI emissions controls. Autozone has entered into an agreement with Autoxray whereby they will sell Autoxray scan tools and code readers through special order. Go back and ask about that.

 

It won't work. I know it didn't cost much, but you can take it back. The last year jumping the terminals will work on an LT1 f-body is 1993.

i take my car to autozone and they read it for free so autozone does not suck in fact kragens sucks they don't even change batteries anymore.

 

AutoZone does not have the OBDII connector/ OBDI reader, so they CANNOT read your car. If they tell you they can, they are lying.

Best thing to do is buy your on cable and scanner. Learn to do things on your own. it's neither hard nor scarey after the first time

autozone gave me the wrong belt twice, and my friend the wrong fuel pump for his car. i dont go there for anything, except my oil since advance auto doesnt carry it.

 

Long as u gain trust with a big wheel of one of the parts stores ur good to go. Im buddies with a advance guy, you can really get some deals if u work it just right. Nos 5176 kit brand new for 500 bux

 

autozone can read codes and clear them, they don't have the real time equipment though, at least the az near me can, some of the people there are real idiots, you have to double check what they look up

 

get a cable and datamaster, will cost you around $60, and you allready have a computer so your set to go. Although a laptop helps when tring to do that a desktop will work

 

well nomad i happen to work at autozone so i know we can read codes and if people would only ansewer the questions we asked them maybe we could help you or be truthfull if you don't know something we ask. i have people all day that don't know if there car is a 305,350 and some even think it's bigger than that. but since i go to wyotech i happen to no more than the normal autozoner............ so just be cool and work with them and what ever you do don't ask for anything cheap valve craft it is not your friend even for oil. and your maro will run forever.

 

how do u like it at wyotech, i heard that some of the instructers don't know crap, lol. My friend went out there and his collision repair teacher didn't know what caster was, wtf????
