Dont buy from GM Parts Direct

Re: Dont buy from GM Parts Direct
I'll never get anything from them. I've heard nothing but bad things about GMPD.
I needed some O2 sensors last summer and the price was outrageous. I just got 'em from my brother-in-law who works for AC Delco. Gets any part I need at cost.

I just call Dal or Jason; similar prices, and REAL shipping costs, not HUGELY inflated ones, with real-time updates on shipping, and honest answers when it'll ship.
Never had problems from either of those guys when it comes to parts.

Re: Dont buy from GM Parts Direct
You should do the research before you order. With not much research you would find out that two weeks is their standard delivery time. If the part is special order it will take longer. Yes there shipping is higher but the price is still lower than other places for most of the parts. I have ordered many parts from them without a problem knowing the parameters.
If you visit www.thirdgen.org you will find many positive posts. The negatives one generally revolve around the two week time frame from people not knowing. So it sounds like your main complaint is the two week delivery time. So based on that you post that no one should buy from GM Parts Direct. Just a little weak in my opinion.

Re: Dont buy from GM Parts Direct
They do hit you up pretty hard on shipping, but in the final analysis I have found their total prices to be substantially better than others. They aren't the fastest at shipping but the parts do get to you. If I need something right now I go to the local dealer. If I can wait I buy from GMP Direct. I have no complaints regarding my many purchases from them.

Re: Dont buy from GM Parts Direct
For me, depends on how expensive the part/order is. They have like an automatic $10 handling, then shipping after that. Add it all up, if its close to dealership then get it at the dealership. All the dealerships by me are 2X the price of gmpartsdirect, so a lot of times its worth it.
The times Ive ordered, yeah, the shippings been slow, but no complains.

Re: Dont buy from GM Parts Direct
Every post above that says they are happy with GMPD does admit they have high shipping costs and slow to ship.....so I can't figure it out.. Call Dal and get the same prices as GMPD but without the high shipping....its a no brainer folks and every part I've ordered from Dal I received the same week.

Re: Dont buy from GM Parts Direct
Even with the stated price of the part and the additional shipping charges in almost every case the price is lower then a Dealer. So why complaim about shipping, you just want the low cost without the extras charges. So buy from the local Dealer and get raped by them, but you still have to wait because the part is not in stock.

I'm still flabergasted about this; the GMPD prices are NOT that great in comparison to either Dal's or Jason's prices. Just call them, you'll get the parts for similar if not cheaper prices, with no "handling" charge, and real-cost shipping. If it's back-ordered, you have a REAL person to talk with; and both guys are AWESOME to deal with and are straight with everyone.

Re: Dont buy from GM Parts Direct
I just want add that Dal rocks!!! I spent the last few days getting part numbers and calling around for the best pricing for the incedentals (gaskets, O2's, valvesprings, and etc.) for my next round of upgrades and Dal kicked GMPD's a$$ on total delivered cost...
GM list on my parts totaled $350.37
Local dealers wouldn't come down off of list so it would be 350.37 picked up locally.
GMPD parts totaled $198.46 but when you look at the total price including shipping it came to $348.73 F-that only a $1.64 savings for all the headache around GMPD...
I called Dal and total parts prices came to $226.34 and shipping is less then $20. That's $100+ savings, quick shipping, and a knowledgeable guy to work with who has the same hobby as us, working on his car...
