Driver Lock Switch - difference 94-96 and 97-02?

I need to replace the driver's side door lock switch in my 98 camaro.

From what I can tell the "94-96" version is readily available for cheap, part #10402836.

The "97-02" version, #10402840, is listed as discontinued on all the gm parts sites, only sources I found were a few on eBay for $40-$60+.

Some of the auctions note they're interchangeable, but there cosmetic differences. From the images they look about the same, anyone else been in a similar situation? Thinking about getting the cheaper 94-96 version.

Try this: SWITCH. Door Electric and Vacuum Locks. TRIM/FRONT DOOR. Chevrolet Camaro (1997 - 2002) # 10402840

Thanks, looks like that's it and at a decent price ... placed an order, hopefully it's truly in stock

I have ordered from them several times and had no issues. There's always a first time though...

Unfortunately they canceled my order since they said they can no longer order the part, so still looking. Anyone have an thoughts on the differences on the two switches?

Bought a 94-96 version switch, took a few comparison images for future reference. Older button is more squared off, slightly different icon

One on the left is 94-96, on the right is my broken 97-02

Re: Driver Lock Switch - difference 94-96 and 97-02?

I'm having the same problem finding a replacement switch for my 1997. Did the 1996 switch work? Is it the same as far as function and fit?

It looks like only slight cosmetic difference from the photos.

Thanks
