My car starts and ends any journey on overdrive. In fact I doubt i've ever used any of the lower gears since i've onwed the car (3 yrs). Correct me if I'm not doing something right.
thanx
While you may have the shift indicator in OD, that doesn't mean the trans is operating in OD. It will still start in 1st gear, move to 2nd, 3rd and then OD/4th when the conditions meet what is programmed into the PCM.

The whole purpose of OD is to slow the engine down, reducing engine wear, and increase fuel mileage. The PCM knows when to take it out of OD. Its not going to let you lug the engine in OD in slow city traffic.

Seems to be working.

thanks for the info! I defintley think I've just put Dubai on my " to do in life checklist" also singapore was already on there as my PhD diss advisor was from there and I've wanted to see where he came from as he helped so much in my life! maybee I can do them both in one trip??

BTW I think it is really cool that you've got a maro over there, are they readily avilable or did you have to have it shipped over?

again yes; only reason I can see for the lower gears is if your in a truck going up a mountain.

Also, to kind of follow up on injuneer's ( thanks, as always, for chiming in with well infomred advise ) I think the best way to serioulsy increase mpg, with no mods, is to get a good tune... was recently talking with someone about their GTO and when it was stock he got 28/29 but then after a good tune for specific driving style he clamied close to 35

However, I've heard about some new addative that is also quite productive, somethign about spliting up the molicules in the gas to let it burn more efficent??

Camaros, Vettes, Mustangs, are readily available. If ever I need to buy a brand new or a used, they're in plenty here.

$1.70 a gallon.

It's even cheaper in other Gulf countries (Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi etc)
