Dyno results!!! cammed lt1

Well my trip to the dyno went pretty well....all mods include the ones in my sig and a cam kit with a 224/230 comp cam and 1.6 RR....my numbers were 356 RWHP....With my electric cutout open i had 371 rwhp and 361 tq...i found my numbers to be extremely good....my baseline before the tune was 339 rwhp..Overall im very happy with my results!

This is exactly what I've been trying to tell people for the last few years! Soooooooo many people have tested the Slowmaster 80 series muffler on the dyno and at the track like this, yet there are still those that claim they need more concrete "proof."

On a stock or near stock car, it's not really going to hurt much (maybe cost you a few rwhp or so against a better flowing muffler). But once you start getting some descent airflow going (headers, camshaft, heads, FI, N2O, etc.), forget about it...That's when the Flowmaster crossflow crap starts to hurt your horsepower/torque potential...

I've got the 3" Flowmaster AT cat-back (80 series) on my stock internal '95 Z28 as it does have a nice tone, but there is also a big reason why I have a cutout on as well in case I want to race the car (or need it LOUD).

Nice results BTW,

Mike

Is that on stock heads? Also, is that STD or SAE numbers? Do you have a graph to post? Numbers are very nice!

My jaw dropped when I saw how much rwhp you gained by opening the cutout. Keep up the good work.

WHat kind of torque did you make before you opened the cutout?

I picked up 14rwhp with my cutout open vs. going through the flowmaster. I like the sound of the flowmaster and on the street the hp loss isnt really an issue so as long as I have the cutout for the track its fine for me.

Damn good numbers! I just installed the same cam as you have and ran a baseline pull with the stock tune and got 305/322 at the wheels (248/288 before the cam). Haven't done any tuning yet cos I put it on the dyno just to check the A/F ratio before a track event. Know where I can take a look at a similar tune to yours?

So I guess that makes you the highest cam only LT1!!
You must have ported heads. Did you buy the car second hand? Maybe the previous owner had them done and didn't tell you.

Yea, i find it hard to believe that SAE numbers will be 371 rwhp on just a 224/230 cam non ported heads. I made 310 rwhp (SAE..321 STD)..with the mods in my sig, minus the high flow cat. I think my old cat was choking things pretty bad...because when i put the new cat in it seemed to really wake up. But i doubt im over 325rwhp..so hes got 50 rwhp on me(granted hes a manual)..and based on my dyno chart..my tune is pretty much perfect.

Would like to see the chart..and also track numbers to back it up.

Thanks for the feedback.. I saw where he gained 15 hp w/ cutouts, just seems like there is something else holding it back.. I stopped by today and picked up the filter see below.. I understand any metal particles in the oil are bad looking forward to hearing what happens when they drop the pan to check into the "chirp" going forward I would have no issue hollowing out the cats for some HP..
