EVAP system and control valve
Does the EVAP system have anything to do with the opperation of my motor other than recirculating gas vapors into the engine for emissions?? Can it be removed for a off road car??

Re: EVAP system and control valve
While the EVAP system is pulling fuel vapor from the charcoal canister in the driver rear fender, it doesn't do anything other than enter the intake manifold, and hence the combustion chamber. What is unknown is what changes (if any) the program makes to things like ignition timing or A/F control when it operates the EVAP system.
Many people have deleted the EVAP system, without any obvious negative effects, other than an increase in fuel odor at the rear of the car. I don't run an EVAP system any more, but I also don't use the stock PCM/programming.

Re: EVAP system and control valve
Thanks for the info. That's about what I suspected. Since the fuel line damage needs to be addressed, and the evap line as well, I'm thinking that now would be a good time to remove it.
