Re: Exhaust explanation please

from what I see the top two are for an off road y-pipe and the bottom two are to be used with cats. Not sure though. Any reason why you are looking at SLP headers? There are much cheaper ones out there that perform much better ie pacesetter or if you want to spend alot go with kooks. but in the end its what makes you happy

Re: Exhaust explanation please

the first one listed no emissions hookups...so no EGR or AIR

didn't notice anything different in the others...but i didn't study every word.

and...i agree with mook....SLP headers are about the worst ones on the market.

on a side note...i love how they still advertise "gains of up to 41hp and 58# of torque" ....RIGHT!!!!

maybe if you were still running stock manifolds on a 427ci LSx based stroker...and switched to LTs....:laugh:

Re: Exhaust explanation please

30049 = 98-02 application (no emissions or catalytic converters - no AIR/no EGR)
30051 = 98-99 application (AIR/EGR)
30052 = 00 application (AIR/EGR)
30053 = 01-02 application (AIR only)

Re: Exhaust explanation please

Teke, Could you please stop bashing my headers. They're not the best but they're not that bad also.

and Colesmith, if you plan on lowering your car... DON'T get the SLP's. The ground clearance is terrible. If you DON'T plan on lowering it, they're fine.

I only saw about a 20hp -/+ gain from them.. Didn't have before install dyno #'s.

Re: Exhaust explanation please

haha...don't take it personally...

i'm not bashing YOUR headers....i'm bashing SLP's headers.

even if you don't lower a car...why would you want to worry about losing 1/2-3/4" for no reason?? and pay an arm and a leg to do it??

relax chief

Re: Exhaust explanation please

Ehh.. I was under the car last week re-tightening one of my exh clamps (coll-cat)... I noticed that it's mostly the Y-pipe. I'll get pics soon.

The driver's side sits fine, There's almost no clearance between the cat and the floor board, just enough to get a finger in there. !BUT! It's the fawkin pass side that's effed up, That side of the Y has about a three inch gap from the cat to the floor board.... Why? ... I guess they might have tried to make room the there to avoid the Y-pipe bang concern, but three inches ius a bit excessive!

Re: Exhaust explanation please

I'm so scared about installing mine... I get my car back from the body shop in 3 weeks, and that when its going into my shop for head/cam/exhaust surgery.

Since my car IS lowered, I'm going to try to bend the headers to get adequate clearence, or just put some regular height springs on because I scrape everywhere anyway on my kenny brown SFC's

Re: Exhaust explanation please

my flowtechs tuck up very nicely...they are not low at all...have yet to scrape the collector.

the header install is mechanically easy...it's just logistically difficult. having to get into tight spaces and get the car REALLY high

Re: Exhaust explanation please

same with the pacesetters they fit perfectly and I have never scraped them. Just make sure you can get the front of your car high enough that the rear just about touches the ground. Its alot of fun.

Re: Exhaust explanation please

Well if the SLP headers give bad clearance how about the pacesetter headers? Whats the clearance with those? Also, would the pacesetter headers work with LMII exhaust? I love the way the LM sounds. Then again I haven't heard pacesetter's exhaust sounds. How are they? Now don't think all I want is sound b/c the more performance the better. GOD DANG THIS IS CONFUSING!!!!
