extension piece

extension piece
I'll need an exhaust extension piece. The pipes are about an inch if that apart, and I dont' feel comfortable just clamping them without a piece inside the 3" exhaust I have. The Random Tech catback I bought has a 3" pipe to it, while the cat. converter pipe is supposed to fit snuggly inside of that. Can anyone help me find a good size in diameter and length for the extension piece to fit snug inside of my 3" I pipe?

Re: extension piece
OK, so the cat conveter pipe bolts to the cat flange and is supposed to fit inside the cat back pipe? if cat conv. pipe is 3" OD and the cat back 3" ID, just get a 6" long 3" OD to 3" ID adapter pipe and shove it in there. I'm not sure I'm following 100%, though.

Re: extension piece
alright this is hard to explain but i'll try my best
The pipe that connects to the stock pipes is where it isn't connecting. There is the muffler, the pipe that goes over the axle, then a pipe that extends to the stock exhaust. In between my stock pipe, and the long straight pipe is where I have a gap of about .5" to about an 1" It came with clamps, but the clamps don't fit snug. The stock exhaust is supposed to fit into the 3" pipe nicely without it moving around, or so I have been told. At the end of the stock pipe, it gets smaller, so it can fit into another pipe *that is how my stock exhaust was as well* If this doesn't make sense, I can take a pic of it tomorrow and send it to you. I need to know what size extension i need to fit into the 3" pipe, putting over the end of the stock pipe.

Re: extension piece
ok so i called so many places and none of them have a freakin pipe.
will a 3" pipe fit into a 3" pipe? the thing is, i need a pipe that will fit securly over my y pipe. there is about an inch of space between the pipe and the y pipe.
just give me a dimension on smething so i can figure this out.
edit: can't i just get a 3"x4 1/2" pipe and stick it over the y pipe end, clamp it down in the end, and clamp it down from the 3" system to the extension? i need these pipes to fit inside each other.
