F-Body Amp Draw
#1
Hey guys, I have a few questions concerning various component amp ratings. The car is a 97 TransAm that will be a street driven race car basically. I'm wiring it up and need to know if my alternator is big enough.
Headlights: 15 amps ?
Dual Walbro Pumps: ???
Windshield Wipers: 5 amps ?
BS3 computer: ???
Radio: 5 amps ?
Window motors: ???
Brakes, Blinkers: ???
LT1 Fans: ???
Electric W/P: ???
MSD 6AL2: ???
Wideband O2: ???
The engine is a 555 BBC and I grabbed an alternator off an old 70's pick up that's rated at 65 amps I think. Will that be enough to run what I need? I know the LT1 alternator is rated at 140 and I have one, but it doesn't fit the bracket. I'm thinking I can run it and worst case have it rebuilt to up the output to like 80 amps. Just want to know if anyone has experience and can offer an opinion ahead of time.
Thanks,
Anthony
Edit: After adding a couple more things I'm guessing that I'll need at least over 100 amps, I just have to find an alt that works.
