feels like i hit the rev limiter
when I first bought my 94 z28 i would be driving it and it would feel like i hit the rev limiter. i would just be driving normal in 5th gear taching out around 2300 rpm and it cuts off like it does when i hit the rev limiter. i just changed the distributor and thought i took care of a security system problem and it started doing it again. where do I start? fuel? the problem is random but its getting more and more common.

Re: feels like i hit the rev limiter
thats the key cylinder, your on the right path though. that cylinder actuates a switch that controls the ignition switch this keep various engine stuff running after the car has been started fuel ignition pcm that sort of stuff, if this is the culprit then yes it will cut out while driving check there. shbox has info on that switch location and im pretty sure our cars had trouble with these

Re: feels like i hit the rev limiter
would that also cause the security system to be giving me a hard time? I had it tuned a few weeks ago and they bypassed the lock cylinder....I knew the difference beteween the lock cylinder and the ignition switch, just checkin to make sure i understood what was being said.

Did the problems with the shutdowns begin at the same time they "bypassed the lock cylinder"? Do you actually mean they bypassed the PASS-Key resistor system?
