Firebird Formula Q's

Re: Firebird Formula Q's
Check out the pics on my CarDomain page. I have a few pics of my 93 Formula up there that I bought in July (I'll have some new pics up soon). I just finished painting the car so there are no decals or emblems on it. My friend even asked why I wasted my money on a V6...then he noticed the dual exhaust It's an automatic with power windows, power locks, power mirrors, keyless entry and A/C. You just may be in luck. I have to sell this car.

Re: Firebird Formula Q's
I coulda sworn my 95 T/A owners manual has the T/A at .3" shorter then the firebird???? Were the t-tops mandetory on the 95s if you got a t/a? I heard it was like that for 96-97 T/A's.

Re: Firebird Formula Q's
I believe you are correct that t-tops didn't become standard on TAs till later, but most TAs were ordered with them. Typical dealer tactic was order the TAs with every option under the sun, and order some Formulas with just a basic option package.

Re: Firebird Formula Q's
There are absolutely no performance differences between the two trim lines - unless you factor in weight then the Formula will win. There are minor dimensional differences due to the different bumber, etc. But it only adds up to an inch or two...
Also, it took me a while to find, but my Formula has leather, t-tops, M6, A/C, premium stereo w/steering wheel controls, power everything, etc. In other words, everything but the bumber and raised spoiler...

Re: Firebird Formula Q's
I knew that the body is different and the engine the same but I really wasn't sure about the little things like the options and suspension and stuff. Thanks. And keep it comming.

Re: Firebird Formula Q's
The body isn't actually different, only the front and rear bumper covers. The other body "differences" are just body cladding along the sides and the rear spoiler (some early TAs came with the standard spoiler too). Engine, drivetrain, and suspension are completely identical.

Re: Firebird Formula Q's
also, compared to the V6, the Formula as well as TA, have cross hatched (so-to-speak) tailight lenses that give them a blackened effect. There was also a difference within the panel between the tailights, I forget the details, I just recall some got the 'bird emblem there, and others did not. On my '96, it is just black, no emblem/markings.

Re: Firebird Formula Q's
ya my 95 T/A doesnt have a bird between teh tailights, its all black???? I can see where it said TRANS AM in tiny letters that someone scraped off. They left the sticky residue there though. I dont have a bird on my front clip either? Did someone go and delete them or??????

Re: Firebird Formula Q's
I thought mine was molded also, it wasen't. I don't think any of them are.
I was also told that certain year formulas recieved Aluminum Driveshafts where Z's and TA's didn't.
and where are you in cali, I love my car but I'm thinking about selling...

Re: Firebird Formula Q's
The bird was not molded into the nose on any fourth gen, it's an actual stick on piece. As to the aluminum driveshafts, none of the LT1 cars got them stock, but there was a TSB to replace the stock steel unit with the 3rd gen 1LE aluminum shaft if you were experiencing vibrations at speed.

I live in Southern Cali. In Beaumont 92223. I am thinking you are in north cali by your site. Anyone got any stock 1/4 times or near stock with a formula. An lt1 formula. Thanks.
