floor console gauges

floor console gauges
I've installed a 2010 Camaro interior in my 68. The console has the 4 gauge cluster. Does anyone know if I could wire them and use them. They are tied into a harness that would just plug into the new Camaro computer system.
Not a big deal as I have gauges already mounted into the dash but thought about hooking them up as well.
If not I can just remove them and put a tray in the place.
Thanks for any input

Re: floor console gauges
There are not many if any 5th gen owners around, so knowledge about the gauges will be limited at best; I'll shoot from the hip though. The gauges are just a visual representation of electrical data being sent from sensors or the ECU, thus with the right information being sent to to the gauge, it should work. That said, it will take a comfort with electrical diagrams, wiring, and troubleshooting.
If that didn't scare you off, in a perfect world, you could just install the 2010 sensors, then run proper cabling back to the gauges. I would start by trying to get a hold of a 2010 service manual to look up information about the gauges wiring, sensors and signalling information. If the ECU is sending the data to the gauges, it becomes more complex because you will need to find sensors that send the same data. Identify what is sending signal to the gauges, then go from there.

Re: floor console gauges
Thanks for the info. That is what I was thinking it might be more trouble than it is worth. Defiantly over my pay grade.
Might just remove it and put something else in that hole.

Re: floor console gauges
I had seen in doing light hunting on your question some Auto meter gauges that had been made to fit in that location. You could then sell the stock gauge cluster to help pay for the new gauges

Re: floor console gauges
I had already bought the auto meter gauges mounted the the dash before I decided to use the newer style floor console. I just though I would hook them up if I could. They look good on the console.I may try to mount the Holley sniper touchscreen in place of the gauges.
Thanks for the help looking around
