Fuel gauge problem (PLEASE HELP)

Fuel gauge on dash is reading wrong. When it reads half a tank it's really empty and when full reads way past what it's suppose to.

Car is a 1995 camaro z28 a4

Re: Fuel gauge problem (PLEASE HELP)

Mine is like that too. The day I bought it, it appeared to have half a tank. I stopped to fill it up on my way home, and it took nearly 15 gallons. My gauge never reads below the halfway mark unless I'm coming to a stop when the tank is nearly empty. Unless there's some inconsistency from one car to the next, I think there's a problem, because I don't remember my 96 behaving this way.

Re: Fuel gauge problem (PLEASE HELP)

It could be the float getting caught up in your fuel tank. Just having replaced my fuel pump I can see where it would not be a uncommon thing.
