Generation 4 SS -SLP Factory Options?

I am confused about what and how the SLP options were handled for specifically Camaro's.
From what i can understand a new car could have SLP options installed in the factory.
Was that for only SS Models?
What options did they do?
Was it a buyers choice, or did they just make a certian number with so many options?
Is it still just an SS or does it make it as SS - SLP?

Please explain and elaborate.

OK, so basically every SS is a SLP car. Just some people add even more SLP items for further upgrades.

All SS models came with the SS style hood and spoiler, which is designated by the WU8 on your RPO drivers door sticker. This signifies that it is a true SS.
If the car had any SLP options added over and above the the hood and spoiler, there will be an additional RPO code listed on the drivers door sticker which will be Y2Y. The passenger door then will have a sticker that lists the Y2Y options that were added.
All SS's started out as Z28's.............

This is only true for the later model cars not the 96 or 97's. Most also included at least a CAT Back and Wheels, standard.

a '96 or 97 should have a sticker on the door with the SLP options listed on it.

The SLP Installed Options card that BC2002SS posted covers everything that was available for 2001 except for the high flow lid. I would have ordered it for my '01 but it wasn't available until '02. The Centre Mount Exhaust (CME) was available mid year '01 and my car is one of very few '01's that have it. As previously stated, for '01 if an SS has any SLP optuions the RPO sticker on the driver's side door will include the code Y2Y and the SLP Installed Options will be listed on a sticker on the passenger door.

No engine mods- just a lid and exhaust- so they weren't that special performance wise-
mostly cosmetic stuff- including a plate on the dash-

The SS also got stock 3:23 gears if it was an auto, as the z-28 only had 2:73 gears. Also the ss had 15hp more than the z-28 and a power steering cooler for the 2001 year. All other years I'm not sure. I'm the original owner of my car and I have all specs. These are just a few things the z-28 did not get, but yes most things were cosmetic.
