Good deal or not ???

Guys I'm thinking of rebuilding my engine. I've got about 170K miles on my 95 lt1. And I'm wondering if this package is a good deal, or if you guys know of a better one.

Re: Good deal or not ???

The description of the the kit did not mention any brand names of the parts and did not include a cam, which you probably do not need, unless you are upgrading. The GM parts went 170K so my advise is to buy good quality factory or aftermarket pieces and not a generic kit so to speak. Just my .02. See ya.

You get what you pay for. IMO, go with quality parts when your dealing with something as important as your engine. I would go with some high performance high quality parts. Are you looking for more HP? Or just a basic rebuild.

Re: Good deal or not ???

I am looking for more HP !! Ok here's the deal my car has a bad oil leak, in fact is had it for a while, but it gotton worse during time, now I have to add a quart every week... so a friend of my that's a mechanic is willing to bring down the engine and replace all the gaskets for a good price, he mention that since he had to bring down the engine, might as well replace some of the parts.

I am a beginner when it comes to high performance, which is why I'm seeking advice from my fellow camaro experts on this site.
I guess my question is, if you had to bring down the engine to replace every major gasket, what else would you do to the car>?what parts would you add.
I thought about a camshaft but I'm not sure if it's a good idea since my car if fairly stock.(K&N KIT)
By the way my budget just for parts is $1000 give or take. so any advice is highly appreciated !!

I normally order my engine kits from Northern Automotive. I beleive they want a simular price for the LT1 master rebuild kit. All good stuff and great service.
