Re: Headers and O2 Sensors

Don't know the specifics of the 2010 Camaro, but a generic explanation:

"Downstream" would appear to refer to the "after-cat" O2 sensors, basically used to measure catalytic convertor(s) performance, and verify if it(they) are still installed. If the cat (or cats) have been deleted, you would need to replace them with working units. If they are missing, you could have a tuner "tune out" the after-cat) O2 sensors, but unless he knows what he is doing, it may prevent the system from showing "ready" in an emissions check, and that is a failure in many places. There are also something call "O2 sims" that you can plug into the wiring harness O2 connectors, and eliminate the codes. But they are highly illegal, and have been forced off the open market by the Federal government. You may be able to find Chinese counterfeits on ebay, but they can be fakes. Then sometimes, with the cats missing, you can use a fitting called a spark plug extender (or anti-fouler) to mount the O2 sensors in the pipe, but out of the exhaust stream. Fools the computer.

Best thing to do is install the cats and keep the air that we breathe clean.
